Late last night (or early this morning?), Seven crawled into bed with me. Despite her VERY loud nature, she's usually pretty good about tiptoeing and whispering late at night when she comes to snuggle in bed with her Mama Bear. She got into bed, got under the covers, and wiggled right up to me. I got the usual kisses on the cheek and I-Love-Yous (my kid is the sweetest), and then she took both of her palms and started rubbing her eyes for a good, solid chunk of time.
In a hushed voice, she said, "Mom! Look at this! Do you see all these colors on my eyes? [still rubbing her eyes as she spoke] Mom! Look! Look at all these colors!!" I confirmed that yes, I knew what she was talking about.
She kept rubbing her eyes for another five to ten seconds, then straight-up screamed out, "WOW!!!!"
She yelled it so loudly that it actually startled me, and then I couldn't help but break out with my own noisy laughter. The kid's like her mom: easily amused.
(side note: I love googling weird stuff. I googled "rubbing eyes and seeing colors" and discovered that those colors are known as pressure phosphenes, when the cones are rods are stimulated physically and send signals to the brain. Useless information for your everyday life!)
